IMPERIAL RUSSIAN MEDAL WITH A PAPER DESCRIPTION OF THE AWARD "FOR THE TURKISH TROOPS" NIKOLAY I The state award of the Russian Empire was established by Alexander I on May 10, 1833. It was intended to reward soldiers from Turkey who were in 1833 in the same camp with the Russian auxiliary corps on the Bosporus. The camp was called "Gaukh-Ker-Iskelessi" (Sultan's Wharf).
